Say hello to Dr. Alan Zhou, the smile expert with a big heart and even bigger passion for the people of Williamsburg. Born in Brooklyn and raised in South Williamsburg, Dr. Zhou has been a part of this community his entire life, growing up just blocks away from Level Orthodontics. A graduate of the legendary Stuyvesant High School, he went on to Boston University for his BA in Chemistry before earning his DDS at NYU College of Dentistry, where he was honored with an induction into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honor society. He completed his orthodontic specialty training at SUNY Buffalo, where he honed his skills in everything from straightening smiles to tackling the trickiest orthodontic cases.
Dr. Zhou didn’t want to practice just anywhere—he wanted to make a difference in the neighborhood he’s always called home. That’s why he founded Level Orthodontics with a mission to bring top-notch, comfortable, and tailored orthodontic care to the South Williamsburg community. His approach is simple: treat every patient like a neighbor and equip them with the know-how to make the best decisions for their own smiles.
Outside of work, Dr. Zhou is a proud cat parent to two feline family members, Nimbus and Dumpling. He’s a skilled chess player, a passion that began at I.S. 318, a local public school known for its powerhouse chess program—featured in the documentary Brooklyn Castle. Before the film's fame, Dr. Zhou was part of the very program that defied the odds, with I.S. 318’s team winning national championships and inspiring a generation of students, including Dr. Zhou, to think strategically and embrace challenges.
Most importantly, Dr. Zhou is a devoted husband to his wife, and deeply committed to serving the Williamsburg community he cherishes. With his combination of skill, strategy, and genuine care, Dr. Zhou is redefining orthodontics from A to Z.
